Process Description HPC compressor vane assemblies are fabricated from high quality stainless steel or super alloy materials. Compressor stator vanes are often complex assemblies which are delivered in two halves or as vane segments. Individual complex 3D vanes, unshrouded and solid, can also be manufactured in house to close tolerances by means of a cold forming and rolling process.
Features of Compressor Vane Assemblies Manufacturing Processes:
- Unigraphics Cad/Cam system to design and machine contoured rolls and dies
- Dies machined on a high-end, computerized 4-axis mill
- Rolling and forming processes that generate net shape parts
- Fully integrated CMM to inspect dies and vane profiles
- Laser cutting of airfoil slots in shrouds
- CNC turning, drilling, tapping
- High temperature vacuum brazing (nickel-braze)
- High temperature controlled atmosphere brazing (silver-braze)
- Vacuum heat treatments
- Abradable rubber sealing
- Abradable plasma coating
