Our Metco™ nickel aluminum clad powders designed for honeycomb filler applications are manufactured using the hydrometallurgy process. This results in powders that have very consistent chemistry and uniform thickness of the nickel shell encapsulating the aluminium core. When filled into honeycomb cells and sintered, a nickel aluminide intermetallic compound is formed that is very oxidation resistant and resistant to thermal stress and distortion. The resulting hollow nickel aluminium spheres provide abradability for an excellent sealing solution.
